Lindberg in [[Collection H|H]]-UB. #### Name Schimper was born 8 Jan 1808 in Dossenheim nr. Saverne, Alsace, Alsatia, then Dépt. du Bas-Rhin, France, the son of the local protestant minister. It is not known to us how Schimper was baptized: "Guillaume Philippe" or as "Wilhelm Philipp". However, Schimper signs himself W.P.
