### Author
Tussac, François Richard chevalier de (1751-1837), French colonial botanist; at Martinique 1786, subsequently in Haiti until 1802, at Jamaica 1802; returned to France late 1802, director of the Jardin botanique, Angers, while resident in Paris.
**Abbreviated name**: *Tussac* \[standard form in IPNI: *Tussac*\]
#### Herbarium and types
Only relatively few specimens collected by Tussac are known to be extant. What comes probably nearest to the main set (perhaps including types) is the one obtained by Desvaux and now at [[Collection P|P]] in the herbier-général. In 1807 Tussac gave a number of specimens to A.L. de Jussieu ([[Collection P|P]]-JU), other specimens are at [[Collection G|G]] (through A.P. de Candolle) and [[Collection FI|FI]]. Tussac's 2000 drawings, made on Martinique, were burned on 5 Feb 1802, but the herbaria and manuscripts were saved. Nothing is known of the present location of the manuscripts.

*Publ*.: The history of the publication of this book is not quite clear because the contents of the fascicles are unknown, and since there are differences between the numbers of pages and plates listed in the *Bibliographie de la France* and those actually present in the volumes. The dates of receipt by the Académie are in general in agreement with the BF dates. In the list below the dates for fasc. 1-2 of vol. 1 are those from the JGLF, fasc. 3-4 from C.R. Acad. Sci., the others from BF. In the absence of convincing information no attempt is made here to suggest the contents of the parts.
