Kuntze\], \[13-714, \[1, 3, 5, err.\]. *Copies*: B, BR, FI, LD, MO, U, US. Post and Kuntze accepted the year 1737 as the starting point date for botanical nomenclature. Many names cited in the *Lexicon* are therefore invalidly published or were validly published by later authors among them Post and Kuntze in the Lexicon itself. The book is based on Kuntze's *Codex brevis maturus nomenclaturae botanicae* (Lexicon p. ix-xli) which was rejected by the Vienna Congress of 1905. Barnhart (1904) in his review, speaking of Kuntze: "It is certainly unfortunate that he should regard himself as an infallible referee upon all points in dispute, and hurl anathemas at all who refuse to acknowledge his authority, characterizing their propositions as "dishonest", inexecutable", \[sic\] "false" and "lawless". *Ref*.: Barnhart, J.H., Torreya 4: 42-44. 12 Mar 1904. - Britten, J., J.
