The Studer herbarium at Bern goes back to Samuel Emanuel Studer (1757-1834), professor of theology at Bern; his son \[Daniel\] Friedrich \[Gottlieb\] Studer (1790-1856) was a pharmacist at Bern and also botanically active; his younger son Bernhard Studer (1794-1887) was a great Swiss geologist (Quenstedt p. 419). Friedrich Studer's son Bernhard Friedrich (1820-1911) was also botanically active and the father of Bernhard Studer-Steinhäuslin (1847-1910).
