Sintenis, Paul Ernst Emil (1847-1907), German (Prussian) botanist and plant collector; studied pharmacy at Breslau (1877-1879) but dedicated himself exclusively to botanical collecting; in the Dobrudscha 1872-1876 (with his brother Max Benjamin Gerhard S., 1848-1894); in Cyprus 1880; worked with A. Toepfer in the Silesian exchange Club 1881-1882; collected in the Austrian coastal regions 1881, in Troas 1883, in Puerto Rico 1884-1887 and St. Thomas 1887; from then on collecting mainly in Greece, the Middle East, Armenia and Iran.

#### Herbarium and types
[[Collection LD|LD]] (see Törje 1968). Sintenis plants were distributed in various ways and under various titles. Dobrudscha material is especially at [[Collection K|K]]; Cyprus material was distributed by Keck; West Indian material distributed by Krug and Urban, first set at [[Collection B|B]] (mainly destr.; dupl. extant) (for extensive details on the location of duplicates and special collections see Urban 1902). The Eastern mediterranean and Middle Eastern plants are widely distributed.
