The t.p., dated 1827, came with the preprint of the first part; it is therefore not quite certain that the second part was also preprinted; this part (p. 227-466) may have come out in 1829. The reviews of the preprint as a whole date from 1829 or later. However, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, the title page date of the preprint, 1827, must be accepted. *Note*: G. Brizicky, in a letter dated 18 Mar 1968, informed us that of the total of 345 new species described in this work about 245 were supplied with Latin descriptions made by Thonning and only about 100 with such descriptions made by Schumacher. However, Schumacher wrote the great majority of the Latin diagnoses of the new species except for those (about 45 species and 5 genera) marked Th. There are 18 new genera, the names of five of which are initialled "S." Ten names have no initial and must be ascribed to Schumacher; five genera have "Th." after the name and the diagnosis or after the diagnosis alone and must be attributed to Thonning. Specific names followed by diagnoses and descriptions signed "S." must be ascribed to Schumacher, those followed by Th. to Thonning; many names are followed by a diagnosis signed "S." and a description signed "Th." It seems reasonable to attribute these to Schumacher in accordance with the botanical custom of the time although joint authorship can also be defended. Unsigned names or diagnoses should be attributed to Schumacher. The title-page gives Schumacher as the author; Thonning's name appears only as collector. *Ref*.: Ascherson, P., Z.
