Schreber's herbarium constitutes the basis of the Munich herbarium (acquired 1813). It contained about 12.000 species. Many collectors are represented (e.g. Swartz, Pallas, Forster, Thunberg, Vahl) whereas the entire Güldenstädt herbarium had been acquired by Schreber. The latter had himself collected numerous grasses and Cyperaceae.
