Wien 1775 (or 1776); professor of physics and mathematics in Amberg (1776); professor of botany and agronomy at Ingolstadt, later Landshut (1784-1809); first director of the botanical garden at München 1809-1832. **Abbreviated name**: *Schrank* \[standard form in IPNI: *Schrank*\] #### Herbarium and types [[Collection M|M]]; types often in [[Collection BR|BR]] (gen. herb., through herb. Martius); some further material in [[Collection FI|FI]], [[Collection GDOR|GDOR]], [[Collection H|H]], [[Collection P|P]]. – Hertel (1980) notes that the actual holdings at [[Collection M|M]] of Schrank material are rather modest. There are no lichens mentioned in his "Baierischen Flora", whereas there are also few phanerogams. Schrank may have given material to Martius, which would now be in [[Collection BR|BR]], but Hertel states also that v. Schrank was not really interested in collecting herbarium material. C.F.P. von Martius (1851) describes the Schrank collections as received in 1832. From this it appears that most collections handed over by v.
