### Author
Saint-Simon, Maximilien Henri, Marquis de (1720-1799), French-Dutch horticulturist; engaged in the French-Italian wars as aide-de-camp to the Prince de Conti; in 1758 he retired to the Netherlands, living at the estate of Nieuw Amelisweerd near Utrecht.
**Abbreviated name**: *Saint-Simon* \[standard form in IPNI: *St.-Simon*\]
#### Herbarium and types
de Saint-Simon is not known to have made a herbarium. In his work he lists over two thousand named varieties of Hyacinths, a considerable number for the period. Many of these varieties were grown by George Voorhelm at Haarlem; some of them also at de Saint-Simon's private estate near Utrecht (Nieuw Amelisweerd), where a few are still found (naturalized) at present. The authors of TL-2 enjoy \[ed\] seeing these historical flowers each year during their early-spring joint work at Utrecht and Brussels.
