In his work he lists over two thousand named varieties of Hyacinths, a considerable number for the period. Many of these varieties were grown by George Voorhelm at Haarlem; some of them also at de Saint-Simon's private estate near Utrecht (Nieuw Amelisweerd), where a few are still found (naturalized) at present.
