#### Composite works
Editor of *Feddes Repertorium* 1943-1962.
#### Note (1)
For a complete bibliography (some 190 numbers) see Schwarz (1963). Rothmaler's *Exkursionsflora* (ed. 1, xxviii, 366 p., Berlin 1952, 30-50. Tausend 1953, xxviii, 366 p., Berlin 1953, re-issue 1956, xxviii, 366 p., Berlin 1956) falls outside our scope. It was succeeded by the *Excursionsflora von Deutschland, Gefässpflanzen* (ed. 1, xlvi, 502 p., Berlin 1958, ed. 2, xlviii, 502 p. Berlin 1961); in 1972 published by Hermann Meusel and Rudolf Schubert, as *Exkursionsflora für die Gebiete der DDR und der BRD*, (ed. 1, 1958, ed. 8, 1976), accompanied by a *Kritischer Ergänzungsband Gefässpflanzen* (1963, other eds. e.g. 1963, 1966, 1976) and by an *Atlas der Gefässpflanzen* (ed. 1, 1959, ed. 4, 1968). The *Taxonomische Monographie der Gattung Antirrhinum*, ii, 124 p., 1956 came out as Beih. 136 of Feddes Repert.
#### Note (2)
Rothmaler published a proposal to compile a *Flora europaea* on 15 Jun 1944 in Feddes Repertorium, vol. 53, of which a reprint appeared as "Flora europaea A", p. \[1\]-18 \[20\] (*copies*: FAS, J. Jalas, M). The paper mentions that various manuscripts are available and states that the two texts for the first volumes (Pteridophyta through Centrospermae) will be completed by 31 Dec 1944. The list of collaborators includes botanists from Germany and several other continental European and North African countries. The present *Flora europaea* was initiated at the Paris International Botanical Congress, 1954.
#### Note (3)
See R.S. Cowan and F.A. Stafleu, Taxon 31(3): 420. 1982 for Rothmaler's proposal to publish a modern botanical bibliography, a plan which contained various elements of the present "TL-2".
