Göttingen 1823; travelled and studied in Paris 1824-1825 and Genève 1825-1826; extraord. prof. botany Basel 1826-1829; idem ord. prof. 1829-1836; ordinary prof. botany Rostock from 1836, from 1846 also University librarian; Dr. phil. h.c. Basel 1836; Dr. sci. nat. h.c. Tübingen 1873; first author to use flower diagrams. **Abbreviated name**: *Roep.* \[standard form in IPNI: *Roep.*\] #### Herbarium and types [[Collection ROST|ROST]]. – Further material at [[Collection E|E]]-GL and [[Collection P|P]]. – Roeper had acquired the herbarium of J.B.A.P.M. de Lamarck in 1824 during his stay in Paris; it was acquired by the University of Rostock in 1875. Roeper's successor K. von Goebel then sold the Lamarck herbarium to Paris in 1887. A certain number of other collections owned or collected by Roeper seem to have been transferred to [[Collection P|P]] as well. (See Bergdolt) 1940)), but his main herbarium of over 100.000 specimens stayed at Rostock (Oltmans 1894). Roeper's letters to D.F.L. von Schlechtendal are at [[Collection HAL|HAL]]. #### Name Roeper spelled his name this way on all his Latin title-pages as well as on some of his German and French language publications; but also Röper on other German publications. We keep "Roeper" because of its common usage. #### Bibliography and biography ADB 29: 149-152 (C.
