O. Almborn) Regnell's estate was left to subsidize botanical work in tropical South America and was used to finance eleven "Regnellian expeditions" and also to finance the working up of botanical collections from S. America at S and elsewhere. The Regnell herbarium (at S) consisted originally of R.'s own collections and those of Gustaf Anders Lindberg (1832-1900, coll. 1854-1855), Salomon Eberhard Henschen (1845, coll. 1868-1869), Carl Wilhelm Hjalmar Mosén (1841-1887, coll. 1873-1874) and J.F. Widgren (1810-1883). It is now kept as a separate division including all collections at S from "Latin America". See Sparre 1969 and Sayre 1975 for further details and the index to our vol. 3 (e.g.) for references to publications on material collected on Regnellian expeditions. These expeditions were: 1. C.A.M.
