The voyage went via Portsmouth, Teneriffa, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Horn and Valparaiso to the N.W. American Russian territories (later: Alaska), calling on Sitka Island, the Alaskan peninsula itself and continuing to Kamchatka. From Kamchatka a trip was made (end 1827) to the Caroline Islands, the Bonin group (Peel Island) and Bering Strait. The return voyage went from Petropavlovsk (Kamchatka) to Manilla, and the Cape of Good Hope, arriving at Kronstadt 6 Sep 1829. The naturalists on the expedition were C.H. Mertens and F.H. von Kittlitz q.v.; Alexander Postels was painter but collected algae also. The illustrations of the *Ill.-alg.* are lithographs of drawings made by Postels from living specimens during the expedition. Gotha 1858 (TL-2/3691). Lütke, the commander, published *Voyage autour du monde* Paris 1836. ### Publications ##### n.8197.
