#### Herbarium and types
[[Collection W|W]]; duplicates in many herbaria, e.g. [[Collection B|B]], [[Collection BM|BM]], [[Collection BR|BR]], [[Collection C|C]], [[Collection CGE|CGE]], [[Collection FI|FI]], [[Collection G|G]], [[Collection GOET|GOET]], [[Collection H|H]], [[Collection HAL|HAL]], [[Collection HBG|HBG]], [[Collection JE|JE]], [[Collection K|K]], [[Collection KIEL|KIEL]], [[Collection L|L]], [[Collection LAU|LAU]], [[Collection LE|LE]], [[Collection LZ|LZ]], [[Collection M|M]], [[Collection MO|MO]], [[Collection NY|NY]], [[Collection OXF|OXF]], [[Collection P|P]], [[Collection PC|PC]], [[Collection PRC|PRC]], [[Collection US|US]], [[Collection WRSL|WRSL]]. – Poeppig's own herbarium is at [[Collection W|W]]. The total number of specimens brought home by Poeppig from his travels (1822-1824 Cuba, 1824-1826 Pennsylvania, 1827-1829 Chile, 1829-1832 Peru, Amazonas) was 17.000. The plants from Cuba, Pennsylvania and Chile were distributed by G. Kunze (Leipzig): an important set went to [[Collection B|B]] (mainly destroyed), other sets are at [[Collection LE|LE]] and [[Collection W|W]]. The main set of the Peruvian and Amazonas collections went to [[Collection W|W]] with Poeppig's own herbarium. – Poeppig specimens from S. Africa came from his herbarium and were probably collected by Wilhelm Gueinzius (1814-1874); Poeppig himself never visited S. Africa. Poeppig's original drawings are also at [[Collection W|W]]. – Correspondence with D.F.L. von Schlechtendal at [[Collection HAL|HAL]].
