Bordeaux 1899, pharmacien supérieur 1901; from 1897-1902 at the Faculté des Sciences, Bordeaux; from 1902 curator, from 1904 professor of natural sciences at the École de médecine, Tours; travelled in the Canary Islands (1904/05, 1905/06) and North Africa.

#### Herbarium and types
Pitard left his herbarium to John Briquet at [[Collection G|G]] with the exception of the special herbaria of Morocco and the Canary Islands (2028 specimens) which were deposited at [[Collection P|P]] and [[Collection PC|PC]]. Briquet deposited the Pitard herbarium at [[Collection G|G]] (34.592 nos.). Other Canary Islands and Moroccan material collected by Pitard was later also acquired by G. Lichens at [[Collection M|M]]. Duplicates in many herbaria.
*Exsiccatae*: *Plantae canarienses* \[*exsiccatae*\] 1905-1906, 3 series, nos. 1-851. (Enumerated in Pitard, Iles Canaries 467-477. 1908), sets at e.g. [[Collection BP|BP]], [[Collection FI|FI]], [[Collection G|G]], [[Collection GRO|GRO]], [[Collection L|L]], [[Collection MO|MO]], [[Collection NSW|NSW]], [[Collection P|P]], [[Collection PAL|PAL]], [[Collection PC|PC]].
