**Notes**
*Publ*.: The reports of the *State Botanist* over the years 1868-1912 (C.H. Peck), contains much valuable, especially mycological information. The bibliography of these reports is involved and is described in great detail by Petersen (1980). We saw sets at MICH and NY and partial sets at MO, PH and USDA. In view of the intricacy of the matter we follow here Petersen's account.
*Facsimile ed*.: Annual Reports of the State Botanist. 1868-1912, edited by L. Vogelenzang, Rijksherbarium, Leiden, volume 1 (1868-1977) \[and following, not yet published Fall 1980\], ISBN 90-70153-12-2 (series), 1980, Boerhaave Press, p.o. Box 1051, 2302 BB Leiden, Holland. *List of reports for 1866-1913*.
Every report came out in various issues, all duly listed by Petersen (1980). We list them here mentioning the earliest issue in first instance. The categories of issues are:

b. Ann. Rep. – Annual Report of the New York State Museum \[Nat. Hist.\].
c. Bull. – Bulletin of idem.
d. Reprints \[i.e. separates\] or preprints of the Report of the Botanist from one of the above.
The date of publication listed after the year for which the report was made always refers to the earliest issue, listed as no. 1.
