Andersson (1849) reports, on the basis of a letter of the Royal Swedish Academy of Science, that the academy stopped publication of Svensk botanik because of the high costs. The Academy had requested the government for funds to have typical Swedish plants painted, the pictures to be deposited at the Academy for possible later use. Some of these plates were used for Thedenius, *Svensk Skolbotanik* (1852-1854) and for C.A.M. Lindman, *Bilder ur Nordens Flora* (1901-1905, 3 vols., suppl. 1926) (see KR p. 99, note 1) ed. 2. 3 vols. 1917-1926; ed. 3. 3 vols. 1921-1926), and *Nordens Flora*, Stockholm 1964, 3 vols., revised by M.
