[[Collection G|G]]. – Delessert acquired the original herbarium, including the types of the *Flore d'Oware et de Bénin*, in 1820. An important set of duplicates is in the Jussieu herbarium at Paris ([[Collection P|P]]-JU). For other duplicates see Index herbariorum (under Beauvois). For notes on the collections in the Delessert herbarium, see Hochreutiner (1898), Niles (1925) and Stafleu (1971). United States collections (1791-1798) partly destroyed, some material at [[Collection B|B]], [[Collection DS|DS]], [[Collection G|G]], [[Collection GH|GH]], [[Collection PC|PC]], [[Collection P|P]]-JU. – Some of the material at [[Collection G|G]] have labels "Reliquiae Palisotianae" with a note indicating that these are plants from Oware and Bénin, meant to be described in vol. 3 of the *Flore*, identified by Berlin and intercalated in the Delessert herbarium in 1897. – Some *letters* at [[Collection G|G]].

The first five parts (*pl. 1-30*) seem to have been published with coloured plates only; the publisher's announcements mentioned issues with col. and uncol. plates. The folio edition was printed in 200 copies on vellum paper. – Palisot de Beauvois' original herbarium at Geneva contains the types of the *Flore d'Oware et de Bénin*. – Ten unpublished plates illustrating algae at P (Ms 202).

The completed work was presented to the Académie des Sciences on 1 Sep 1806; Sayre's dates are based on the Journal typographique and a review in Mag. Encycl. 9e Année, 5(22). Crum (1952) supplies a list of generic names and binary combinations which must be dated from 1804.

*Note*: "Aetheogamie" stands for "Cryptogams", Palisot was of the opinion that there was nothing "cryptic" about the reproduction of these groups; it was at most "unusual" (*aethes, insolitae*).
