New York Bot. Gard. 20: 176-177. 1919) from Appleton's Cyclopaedia of American biography (4: 478-479. 1888). Some of the equally fictitious book-titles are: "Neueste Geschichte und Beschreibung des Brodbaums" 1758 (n.b. the bread-fruit tree was first introduced into tropical America in 1793), "Flora cubana" 2 vols., Leipzig 1758. Conde, J. A., Historia de la botánica en Cuba 52. 1958 (accepts "Freidrich W. Nascher" as having existed and cites his *Flora cubana*).
