#### Note
L. usually wrote his name John Leconte; however the full name John Eatton Leconte is to be preferred to avoid bibliographical confusion with e.g. John LeConte (1818-1891) (nephew), and John Lawrence LeConte (1825-1883). The family name has also been spelled LeConte, Le Conte and Lecompte. We follow Rehn (1954) in accepting "John Eatton Leconte". – See Barnhart (1917) for a list of L's botanical works (with precise dates) and for the attribution of a "Catalogue of the flora in Georgia" to him.
#### Eponymy
*Lecontea* A. Richard ex A. P. de Candolle (1830).
