James Veitch & Sons, Chelsea and finally the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew 1896-1897, dir., coffee and cocoa plantations, Equatorville (now Mbandaka), Congo Free State, Inspecteur forestier, Congo Free State, chief of culture 1902 at the State Botanic Garden in Bruxelles, retired 1939.
