### Author
Kaulfuss, Georg Friedrich (1786-1830), German botanist; Dr. jur. et phil. Halle 1816; extra-ord. prof. forestry at Halle 1823; ord. prof. of botany ib. 1818.
**Abbreviated name**: *Kaulf.* \[standard form in IPNI: *Kaulf.*\]
#### Herbarium and types
The Kaulfuss herbarium was sold after his death. A circular announcing the sale and describing the rich herbarium is at [[Collection G|G]]. Kaulfuss acquired the herbarium of Johann Karl Friedrich Meyer (Stettin, 1739-1811). This herbarium contained material from Isert, Pallas, Thunberg, Swartz, Vahl and Willdenow. According to Flora (1832), "Römer", at Dresden acquired the Kaulfuss Pteridophytes. The identity of this Römer is not known to us. Bryophytes are at [[Collection B|B]] (Bridel, still extant), [[Collection L|L]] (id.) and [[Collection LZ|LZ]] (destroyed). Some ferns are at [[Collection PH|PH]]. Some material of Kaulfuss (e.g. at [[Collection M|M]]) in other herbaria may be of Johann Simon Kaulfuss. – Information on [[Collection B|B]] courtesy W. Schultze-Motel. For biographical information we are indebted to S. Rauschert.
