### Author
Kämpfer, Engelbert \[Kaempfer\] (1651-1716), German physician and traveller; secretary of the Swedish embassy to Russia and Persia; with the Dutch East Indian Company 1685-1693; subsequently physician to the Count of Lippe.
**Abbreviated name**: *Kaempf.* \[standard form in IPNI: *Kaempf.*\]
#### Herbarium and types
The Sloane herbarium at [[Collection BM|BM]] contains (H.S. 211) the only known Kämpfer herbarium. The drawings in the *Amoenitates* seem to have been taken from some of the specimens. Some further specimens are at [[Collection OXF|OXF]] (Sherard herb.). The British Museum possesses an extensive collection of Kämpfer manuscripts. Among them are several volumes of drawings. Most of the botanical drawings (59) were published by Joseph Banks as *Icones selectae plantarum*.
