This is often referred to in the literature as the Jacquin herbarium. Although Jacquin certainly made herbarium material of Austrian plants and of plants in the gardens under his care, it is difficult to find West Indian material collected by him. It is doubtful whether Jacquin brought home from the West Indies sizeable collections of dried plants. J. E. Dandy informed us that the Jacquin material from the West Indies in the Banks herbarium (now [[Collection BM|BM]]) is rare and consists of scraps or small specimens. Austrian and garden plants collected by Jacquin are present in small numbers in a number of herbaria: [[Collection AWH|AWH]], [[Collection B|B]], [[Collection BM|BM]], [[Collection CGE|CGE]], [[Collection H|H]], [[Collection JE|JE]], [[Collection LINN|LINN]], [[Collection LIV|LIV]], [[Collection OXF|OXF]], [[Collection UPS|UPS]] (in the Thunberg herbarium) and [[Collection W|W]]. – For the typification of Jacquin's names see d'Arcy 1970; in several cases it will be possible to find Jacquin types in one of the above-mentioned herbaria, especially [[Collection BM|BM]], [[Collection LINN|LINN]] and [[Collection W|W]]. – PR mentions two Jacquin manuscripts at [[Collection W|W]]. Jacquin's botanical correspondence (addressed to him) is also at [[Collection W|W]]. *Ref*.: Miller, Taxon 19: 527. 1970 (on J. material in Lambert sale). #### Bibliography and biography Aa 9: 69; ADB 13: 631-632; AG 2(2): 384-385; Backer p. 291; Bamhart 2: 242; BM 2: 918; Bossert p. 193; Bret. p. 134; Clokie p. 189; Dawson p. 447-448, 940 \[index\]; Dryander 5: 294; DSB 7: 57-59; DTS 1: 132; Frank 3(Anh.): 47: GF p.61; GR p. 702, *pl*. \[*32*\]; Henrey 2: 194, 724; Hortus 3: 1196 ('Jacq."); HU 572, 586, 635, 655, 681; IF 707; IH 2: 308; Jackson p. 563 \[index\]; JW 3: 355, 391 5: 243; Kanitz no. 50; Kew 3: 138-139; Langman p. 391-392; Lasègue 572 \[ind.\]; Lenley p. 240; LS 12954-12958; Maiwald p. 60, 80, 103, 178; Moebius p. 367, 409, 420; MW p. 216; NI 970-981; Plesch p. 278-279; PR 4360-4375 (ed- 1: 4825-4842); Rehder 5: 427; RS p. 90; SBC p. 123 ('Jacq."); SO 82, 584, 643f 646a-d, add. 646b, 696-699, 700, 2476, 2548, 2488a; SK 4: cxci; Sotheby 384-394; Tucker 1: 366; Urban-Berl. p. 359, 414; WU 10: 26-32; Zander ed. 10, p. 675. - Amoureux, Mém.
