#### Eponymy
*Jacobaea* P. Miller 1754 is an old pre-linnaean name. The plant is so named because it flowers around St. Jacob's day (July, 25) (fide Pfeiffer 1: 1779). *Jacobaschella* O. Kuntze (1891) is dedicated to Ernst Jacobasch (*fl*. 1885-1900), German high school teacher and botanist. *Jacobipollenites* C. G. K. Ramanujam (1966) is dedicated to K. Jacob, Indian palaeontologist *Jacobsonia* Boedijn (1935) is very probably dedicated to Edward Richard Jacobson (1870-1944), Dutch business man and naturalist in the Netherlands East Indies. The etymology of *Jacobanthus* Fourreau (1868) and *Jacobinia* C. G. D. Nees (1847, *nom. cons.*) could not be established.
