**Notes**
*Publ*.: 1784 (? Murray, Syst. ed. 14: 241. 1784 refers to *Elaeodendron* on p. 36-38). The first volume of the Nova acta helvetica may have come out in parts. The reference by Murray might well be accepted as an indication that the first part (containing p. 34-41) was published at the latest in 1784. No reprint of the article is known to us; W. Gutermann informs us that no reprint is present in Jacquin's library at WU and that the Murray reference may be based on his correspondence with N.J. von Jacquin, and hence be to unpublished material.

This information makes it necessary to take the dates given on p. vii with some reservation; however, parts 1-4 were definitely out by 13 Apr 1812 (letter at Genève). Vol. 2 was edited by Jacquin's daughter Isabella Schreibers and by Eduard Fenzl. All *plates* are coloured copper engravings.
