Vaud), student of Jean Gaudin in Nyon, educated at Univ. of Laussane, went to Paris 1811 where he was appointed to the offices of the Senate and the Comité des Pétitions, awarded Légion d'honneur 1824, served as an officer from the founding of the Société Botanique de France in 1854, died 16 Jan 1864 in Paris. **Abbreviated name**: *J. Gay* \[standard form in IPNI: *J.Gay*\] #### Herbarium and types [[Collection K|K]] (orig. purchased by Sir J.D. Hooker), duplicates [[Collection CGE|CGE]], [[Collection DBN|DBN]], [[Collection E|E]], [[Collection FI|FI]], [[Collection MO|MO]], [[Collection NA|NA]], [[Collection PH|PH]], [[Collection US|US]].
