For *Deutschlands Schwämme* see below. #### Note In the absence of sufficient biographical data we are not fully certain that the "Johann Carl Schmidt" of *Deutschlands Schwämme* and *Mykologische Hefte* (see G. Kuntze, TL-2/4036) is indeed identical with the Johann Karl Schmidt "Doktor der Medicin und Chirurgie" of the *Allg. ökon.*-*techn. Kunze "Hr. Dr. Schmidt" is no longer in Leipzig, but now in Jena". This points in the direction that J.C. Schmidt, born in the Oberlausitz, collaborator of G. Kunze at Leipzig, the author of the *Allg. ökon.-techn. Fl.* \[as "Med.
