Thomson (1854) is dedicated to Brian Houghton Hodgson (1800-1894), English public servant in India, orientalist, linguist and collector of plants and animals. The etymology of *Hodgsonia* H. Persson 1953 and *Neohodgsonia* H. Persson 1954 could not be established.
