The "Herbarium Haussknecht" was originally housed in Weimar in a building, erected in 1895, designed to house H's collections. After H's death this institution was continued as an independent foundation managed by Joseph Bornmüller under the auspices of the Thüringische botanische Gesellschaft. Bornmüller was succeeded by O. Schwarz in 1946 who transferred the collections to the new Institut für spezielle Botanik at Jena in 1949. *Ref*.: Sayre, G., Mem. New York Bot.
