Allioni, C. Bauhin, J. G. Gmelin, A. Gouan, J. F. Gronovius, B. de Jussieu, N. J. Jacquin, L. G. Lemonnier, C. Linnaeus and Ortega in addition to Swiss collections by G. D. Duvernoy, A. Gagnebin, J. Gessner, A. Huber and P. Thomas. Haller founded the Göttingen University herbarium (see Zoller 1958). Haller was among the first botanists to realize the importance of herbaria to study variation in plants and he therefore purposely include material from different localities, habitats and developmental phases.
