### Publications
##### n.34.663. flora of Liverpool
**Title**
The *flora of Liverpool*: a list of the indigenous flowering plants and ferns growing within fifteen miles of the Liverpool Exchange and two miles of Southport... Liverpool (Liverpool Naturalists' Field Club) \[1867-\]1872. Oct.
**Notes**
*Publ*.: \[1867-\]1872, p. \[i\]-vi, loose errata slip, \[1\]-178, \[4 p. unnumb., index\]. *Copies*: BM (n.v.), HH(2).
*Ref*.: W\[arren\]., J.L., J. Bot. 10: 314-316. 1 Oct 1872 (rev.).
- *Note*: There is no internal evidence to establish anything but corporate authorship (i.e. Liverpool Naturalists' Field Club) for this flora. Nonetheless, p. \[iii\] states "Communications may be addressed to H.S. Fisher, 'Flora Committee,' Royal Institution" implying he had some editorial responsibility. In addition, Desmond (ed. 2, p. 247-248, 725-726) states that Fisher edited the 1872 flora with F\[rederic\]. M\[organ\]. Webb (1841-1880) but the original source of Desmond's statement is unclear.
- *Appendix to the Flora of Liverpool*: by Robert Brown (1839-1901); "... an accurate local botanist...")... Jun 1873... \[Liverpool?\] (Liverpool Naturalists' Field Club) 1873.
- Oct., cover-t.p., p. \[1\]-14 p. *Copies*: BM (n.v.), HH.
- *Note*: (1) Title head of p. \[1\] changes, viz. "Notes of additions to the 'Flora of Liverpool.' Published by the Liverpool Naturalists' Field Club, June, 1873". (2) Authorship inferred from published notices (see below).
- *Second appendix to the Flora of Liverpool*... Apr 1875... \[Liverpool (Liverpool Naturalists' Field Club)\] 1875. Oct., cover-t.p., p. \[1\]-24. *Copies*: BM (n.v.), HH.
- *Note*: There is no explicit statement regarding authorship of this second appendix. The notice in J. Bot. attributes it to Robert Brown (1839-1901); Desmond (ed. 2, p. 108) does the same for this and the 3rd Appendix.

- Anon., Nature 12: 262. 1875 (noticed).
- "*Appendix 3*":... 1887... *Copy*: no copy seen.
- "*New ed*.": Green, C\[onrad\]. Theodore, The *flora* of the *Liverpool District*... 1902 (see TL-2/Suppl. 8).
- *Note*: (1) The early sheets of this flora were issued with the monthly parts of the Liverpool Naturalists' Field Club Journal, Jan 1867–Mar 1868. (2) Clearly building upon, but not to be confused with, an earlier (1851) work of the same title by Joseph Dickinson (ca. 1805-1865) (see TL-2/1, nr. 1441 and Suppl. 5: 287-288) nor *A Flora of Liverpool*... (1839) by Thomas Batt Hall (1814-1886) (see TL-2/2, nr. 2295).
