Asia 1885), died 28 Sep 1892 \[of typhus?\] in Altona (then part of Prussia). **Abbreviated name**: *Gottsche* \[standard form in IPNI: *Gottsche*\] #### Note Not to be confused with the geologist Carl Christian Gottsche (1855-1909). #### Herbarium and types Gottsche's original herb., mss. and drawings were at [[Collection B|B]]. "... wohl haben Asa Gray und Hooker versucht, es uns Deutschen zu entführen; dem patriotischen Manne war es ein Herzensbedürfniss, dass es in Deutschland blieb, und so verbindet sich mit dem Schmerz über seinem Heimgang, die Freude, dass uns dieser Schatz... erhalten geblieben ist" (*fide* Stephani). [[Collection BM|BM]] has "many authentic specimens of hepatics described by him, acquired with Herb.
