Linden in Belgium and studied at Kew 1871-1872, head gardener, botanical garden, Saigon, French Indochina 1874, married Mlle. Lebeuf (daughter of the horticulturist V.F. Lebeuf) 1876, his horticultural firm the Maison A. Godefroy-Lebeuf of Montmartre (Paris) became the principal importer to France of plants and exotic orchids from its colonies, traveled in Cambodia and Laos 1876-1878 with Frère François-Jules Harmand (1845-1921), died 2 Aug 1903 in Paris. **Abbreviated name**: *God.-Leb.* \[standard form in IPNI: *God.-Leb.*\] #### Note The spelling of his surname is corrected from TL-2/1 where it was given as "Godefroy Leboeuf". He married (1876) Mlle. Lebeuf (*not* Leboeuf) and became son-in-law and successor to V.F. Lebeuf, who was the proprietor of an horticultural firm in Argenteuil, France; presumably the hyphenated name commercially advantageous. #### Herbarium and types Indochina: [[Collection C|C]], [[Collection K|K]], [[Collection P|P]] (orig.), [[Collection W|W]]; Portugal: [[Collection K|K]]. #### Bibliography and biography APN p. 230 (as "-Lebeuf"); Backer p. 238 (as "Leboeuf"); Barnhart 2: 57 (as "Lebeuf"); BM 2: 686 (as "-Lebeuf"); Briquet p. 244-245 (sub Guillot); CSP 15: 344 (as "-Lebeuf"), IH 2: 228 (as "Lebeuf"); Kew 2: 429 (as "Lebeuf"); Kew List 26; Langman p. 318 (as "-Lebeuf"); Morren ed. 2: 39; NI 2: 230 (as "-Lebeuf"); Rehder 5(index): 326 (as "-Lebeuf"); TL-2/1: 959 (as "Leboeuf"); Zander ed. 17: 950 (as "-Lebeuf"). #### Biofile - Anon., Gard.
