Göttingen 1819; lecturer Göttingen 1819-1826; from 1826 professor of botany and director of the botanical garden in Königsberg; Dr. phil.h.c. Königsberg 1829. **Abbreviated name**: *E. Mey.* \[standard form in IPNI: *E.Mey.*\] #### Herbarium and types Meyer was for the greater part of his career a professor at Königsberg (now Kaliningrad). The herbarium (19.000 species plus the Ehrhart exsiccata) was offered for sale in 1859. It was bought by the Gesellschaft zur Beförderung gemeinnütziger Tätigkeit at Lübeck in 1875. In 1915 the herbarium (24000 specimens) was transferred to Berlin ([[Collection B|B]]); most of it is now destroyed.
