He was also in contact with J. Hedwig. In his *Species muscorum* Hedwig (1801: 176) gives no dedication, but the discovery site of Timmia megapolitana is given: “... prope Malchin ducatus Megapolitani ...” (near Malchin/Mecklenburg). *Note*. – *Timmia* J.F.Gmel. 1791 (Amaryllidaceae) No derivation found, but Carl Theodor Timm (1824–1907) was not born, when the genus was named in 1791; and: *Timmiella* (De Not.)
