Fischer, Bernhard (1852-1915), German surgeon and marine bacteriologist, born 19 Feb 1852 in Coburg, educated as an army surgeon, M.D. 1875 Friedrich-Wilhelms-Univ. in Berlin, asst. to Robert Koch (1843-1910) in Berlin (Koch later a Nobel laureate) and went with him on the Cholera Commission to Egypt and India 1883, prof. of hygiene at Kiel 1899, served in W.W.-I and killed in action nr. Ypres, Belgium.
