[^1]: "*Aregelia* Kuntze 1891 (Bromeliaceae) \[is dedicated to\] Eduard August von Regel (1815–1892), German-born botanist, director of the Botanical Gardens in Zürich and St. Petersburg. Dedication: “Dem kaiserl. russischen Geheimen Staatsrath C. von Regel zu Ehren sei dieses Genus benannt” (This genus is named in honour of the Imperial Russian Privy State Councilor C. von Regel) (Kuntze, 1891: 698). Kuntze created the genus *Aregelia* instead of *Nidularium* Lem., today *Nidularium* (Lem.) Lindm. on which genus Eduard August von Regel worked (Lindman, 1890: 531). Grant & Zijlstra (1998) reported on the confusion in naming in this case. *Note*. – The cited title was given to Eduard August von Regel. The letter “C” instead of “E” in the title is probably an error in writing or typesetting. The letter “A” in “*Aregelia*” may stand for Regel’s second name August or in French language: “à Regel” = for Regel. His son Albert von Regel is honoured with *Albertia* Regel & Schmalh. 1877 (Apiaceae) (Regel & Schmalhausen, 1877: 603)." Burkhardt, L. (2016).
