Nat. 1865 Leipzig, curator ("custos") at the Univ., docent for botany, asst. prof. 1878 and prof. of plant physiology 1881 at agricultural high school in Berlin, died 27 Sep 1900 in Berlin. **Abbreviated name**: *A.B.
